Vivek Pratap Singh
Growing up in Pratapgarh's rich cultural and artistic environment fueled my desire to travel and explore more. But one of my biking expeditions eventually changed the course of my life forever. While on a bike trip from Delhi to Kathmandu I met with an accident. Eventually what seemed to be a 'not so complicated' hairline fracture turned out to be an arm paralysis. I underwent major operations, one of which lasted 13-14 hours.
My doctor advised physiotherapy, which led me to add running and jogging to my daily routine. Over time, I was able to run long distances, and unexpectedly, my niece took me to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, where I met Dr. Satyapal Singh, a Dronacharya Awardee, and Ankur Dhama, an Arjuna Awardee. This encounter inspired me to redirect my time and energy towards sports.
I played my first state championship in the 100m sprint in 2022. In my second attempt in 2023, I acquired 2 Silver medals and 1Bronze. In December 2023 I participated in the Delhi State Championship, attaining Gold in 100m sprint and 1 Silver in the Long Jump category. Additionally, I have represented Delhi in the National Athletics Championship twice. So far, I have taken part in 20+ marathons. In January 2024, I transitioned to a new role as an Area Sales Manager at Infra.Market, where I was thrilled to reconnect with Mahesh Tiwari, my ex-colleague and now boss. He has always supported me with dedication to both sports and work. I strive for excellence in all areas, which enhances my well-being. I am excited about the opportunities to apply my skills and drive to achieve new milestones and recognition in all my endeavors.
